The North Carolina State Board of Examiners of Plumbing, Heating & Fire Sprinkler Contractors does not publish information about Exam Content. This includes the total number of questions, the subject areas and the number of question for each subject area. North Carolina General Statutes 87-21(b)(3) states that the Board, "shall give an examination designed to ascertain the technical and practical knowledge of the applicant concerning the analysis of plans and specifications, estimating costs, fundamentals of installation and design, codes, fire hazards, and related subjects." According to 21 NCAC 50.0305, a grade of 70% is required to pass an exam.
You are allowed 4.0 hours to complete the Plumbing portion and 1.0 hour to complete the Business and Law portion of the exam.
